Study of the Histopathological Changes of the Renal Tubules in the Diabetic Rats

Abstract
|
|
|
The following results were obtained after thorough investigation of serum glucose, renal function and histopathological changes of renal tubules in streptozotocin administered rats.
1. Serum glucose, BUN and serum creatinine showed marked increase after administration of streptozotocin and were maintained high level continuously.
2. Degeneration of renal tubule was appeared one week after administration of streptozotocin, necrosis and desquamation of tubular epithelium, hypertrophy of basement membrane and increase of PAS positive material in tubular epithelium were appeared one month after administration of streptozotocia. The above changes were more remarkable with elapse of time,
3. Necrotic and sclerotic lesions of glomerulus were appeared one month after administration of streptozotocin, and the changes were more remarkable with elapse of time.
4. According to the above results and consideration of literatures, we knew that organic changes of renal tubule were appeared earlier than the changes of glomerulus, and all of the disturbance of renal function corrplicatEd to diabetcs mellitus were not attributable to glomerular lesion.
